Countdown to Christmas

When my kids were little, one of their favorite stories to read was: The Night Before the Night Before Christmas by
by Natasha Wing  (Author), Mike Lester (Illustrator). It’s a cute little story about everything that can go wrong before Christmas doing exactly that (most of it spurred by the idea that mom gets sick and dad doesn’t quite know how to do things the same way.)

Our Christmas is following that trend rather closely this year. Our new refrigerator (less than a year old) emitted a horrible burning smell and was hot to the touch. I unplugged it so as not to catch fire and the manufacturer is taking their sweet time to respond to us. It’s been a week before they sent anyone out because quality of life means apparently nothing. (Did I mention this was immediately after I purchased over 400.00 in groceries?) We have a roof that is supposed to be under warranty for fifteen years leaking and the roofer will not call back. The leak has damaged walls and ceiling (again.) Our car needs some repairs. I’ve been out of commission as I have been watching three littler girls, while their very teeny tiny new sister grows stronger. I have a pipe leaking every now and then. And to top it all off, the kids I am watching shared their cold with me. It truly is the night before the night before Christmas.

But – my cookies are baked, my tree is decorated, my house is cleaned and the presents are in the process of being wrapped so all is not lost. Still, some things had to give and unfortunately this blog and Christmas cards were on the list. But I will be back and later today I will share with you the beginning of the adventures of Princess Gertie – one of my favorite tiny divas! Until then – Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy Kwanza, Happy Festivus – whatever you celebrate, please enjoy it safely, surrounded by friends and loved ones, making memories and filling the time with laughter. Be safe and much love.
