Nurture Your Inner Rebellious Seeds

Today as I walked my dog, I stopped to take in my gardens. I have two small patches of earth that I tend. When I say tend, I simply mean I remove the weeds, refresh the soil and randomly smile at the flowers that bloom. The side of my house has five beautiful, healthy daylilies, perennials. There’s not much I have to do for them besides the aforementioned care. The front of the house has annuals. This year’s blossoms are Gerber daisies in fiery hues of red, orange, and yellow – my favorite colors.

They are beautiful. I love my flowers and they grow because they are taken care of, supported, and loved. But to me, the most beautiful flowers are the ones that surprise you – the wildflowers. Weeds are often removed, but left on their own can produce delicate blossoms from the cracks in the sidewalk. I found three of those in my lawn today. A helpful friend upon seeing the photos told me they were: Yellow Oxalis (Wood Sorrel Clover), purple Morning Glory and white Allium (garlic chives).

These flowers bloomed without being planted; thrived without being nurtured. They grew where they were not planned; struggled and survived. Nurture those little rebellious seeds inside you. They will produce something stunningly beautiful.
